AWC/GCA Joint October Meeting - Chattahoochee Blueway Project

  • 05 Nov 2013
  • 7:00 PM
  • Garden Hills
On November 5th at 7 PM at Garden Hills, we are holding a joint meeting of the Atlanta Whitewater Club and Georgia Canoe Association to have the chance to hear about and provide input to the Chattahoochee Blueway Project.  If you haven’t heard about the Chattahoochee Blueway, it will be a 52-mile river paddling route stretching from the city of West Point Georgia to the whitewater park in Columbus.
Debra Edelson from The Trust for Public Land, one of the driving forces behind the Columbus Whitewater Park, will present the current plan and solicit feedback.  With feasibility study by McLaughlin Whitewater Group already in progress, Debra will also be looking for our opinions on:
  • Launch and take out site considerations;
  • Portages and river campsites;
  • The possibility of building in whitewater features and playspots (!)

Paddlers: please add this meeting to your calendar right now so you can be sure to be there and play a part in one of the most ambitious Georgia river trail projects ever to be conceived.
