Three Rivers - Spring
April 30 - May 1

Once again it is time for the AWCs annual Spring Three Rivers Weekend. It is one of the few events when paddlers from all skill levels can paddle together.

On Saturday, the fun begins with trips to three different rivers, each suited for beginner, intermediate, or advanced paddlers. Afterward, everyone convenes for a feast and overnight camping. Sunday there is an all-skills paddle for everyone.

Please register to the left if you plan on attending Three Rivers Weekend.  We need a good head count for each trip and we need to know how much BBQ to get for Saturday's dinner.  As always, guest are welcome.

Rivers for Saturday April 30th:

  • Chattooga Sec 3 - Thrifts Ferry to Bull Sluice( Beginner-friendly)  coordinated by JD Grogan. Sign up by registering for the Three Rivers weekend.  If you have questions about this trip contact JD  at jd@4grogans.com

Details regarding meeting time and place for all Saturday trips will be emailed to those who register for the Three Rivers Weekend.

Specials and Dinner:

After paddling,  there will be a reception for AWC members at the NOC Store, from 6PM - 7:30PM.   The store will only be open to members for that time period and there will be special discounts.   Food, fun and deep discounts!

At 7PM we will have a BBQ dinner at the NOC Basecamp with the BBQ being catered by Riverbone Productions.  We ask that every one bring a side dish or desert to contribute to the dinner.  When you register for the event it will ask what you plan to bring. We'll note when we've reached a max for each item.  If you'd rather not mess with a side item or desert you can make a donation towards the food and we'll use it to fill out the meal with what seems the most needed.

The club is paying for camping at the Wesser-Nantahalla Campground. We will be located in the back field.

For camping bring the usual suspects (tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, headlamp, cooler of microbrews).  It's also a good idea to be prepared for rain- if you have a pop-up shelter bring it- we'll all thank you!  Firewood, frisbees, and foamy boaters are also a good idea.

Nantahala for Sunday, May 1st:

We will end the weekend with everyone paddling the Nantahala on Sunday.  NOC will be providing us with a shuttle. Please meet at the NOC at 9:30 to load boats. The shuttle will leave at 10AM prompt.  You're on your own for breakfast- either make it in camp or go EARLY to River's End at the NOC.

Please register for Three Rivers at the club website, www.atlantawhitewater.com  (just to the left of the description) and bring a side for dinner Saturday night.
There is no charge to club members for camping, dinner, or the Sunday shuttle!
