Citizens Race at the NOC

This is the second of a series of three slalom races, set up between the bridges at the NOC.   The course, as described on the NOC website, is both challenging and "first timer friendly"    The races are open to anyone, but the club that wins the most points at the end of the three races walks away with a new Jackson Villain!   The AWC is leading the pack with 11 points,  the Carolina Canoe Club is in second with 9.

Come out on Saturday to race with us; or to cheer us on!

Time:              3:30PM  Register  (no charge)
Date:              Saturday, July 17th
Where:            NOC at the pedestrian bridge on river left
Boat to bring:  any plastic boat that is fast!

From the NOC website:

Paddlers can make as many runs through the course as they'd like, only their best time will count. Also, there are no penalties for hitting a gate, but paddlers must go through each gate in the correct order for their run to count in the final scoring. Each completed run earns points toward the trophy. NOC will time the events from the bridge.

Warm Up:
Paddlers are welcome to practice on the course all day leading up to the event, and at 3:30pm 1996 Canoe/Kayak Olympian Wayne Dickert will be on hand for a demo run of the course and to give out advice, tips and encouragement to paddlers.

NOC will have prizes such as free gear or gift cards to the participants with the best time, most runs, etc.
