The Boater Chick™ Festival ("BCF") is a grass-roots, not-for-profit event that began in 2008 to give women in paddle sports the opportunity to paddle together, learn from one another and gather in a friendly and supportive environment.

BCF features clinics and guided river trips on Class II - V whitewater for kayakers and canoeists as well as friendly and fun freestyle competitions and races, including the "famous" BCF Boater Cross on the Cheoah River. Saturday evening is filled camaraderie, delicious food, local music, awards, gear raffle, bonfire, friends...and the annual Boater Chick™ of the Year Award.

While all river activities are ladies only and geared towards whitewater kayaking and canoeing we extend an invitation to everyone in boating to join in the festivities. Squirt boaters, slalom and wildwater racers are welcome. Boater dudes and doggies are welcome for the off-the-river festivities as long as both are leashed ;-) The Boater Chick™ Festival is not for profit. All profits from the event will be donated to worthy organizations. Past recipients include American Whitewater and First Descents.

Do you paddle a kayak, canoe, raft or inflatable ducky with your kids, teens or grandkids? If you do, then join members of the Appalachian Paddling Enthusiasts, Atlanta Whitewater Club, Carolina Canoe Club, Foothills Paddling Club, Georgia Canoeing Association, Triad River Runners and other Southeastern paddling families in a Memorial Weekend family paddle. The more the merrier! We know that paddlers have more fun and stay more involved when they paddle in groups. Kids are no different: kids like to paddle with other kids. Families Paddle Too! Memorial Weekend Paddle is to help kids develop more friendships as the 2012 paddling season begins.

Where: Garden Hills Community Center

Who: Members, Guests are always welcome!

More Information & Directions

After meeting at Garden Hills for our social (half) hour and announcements, we'll head over to the nearby field for our annual throw rope competition. For experienced paddlers it's a chance to show off their skills and for newer paddlers it's a great chance to learn and practice throwing a rope. If you have a rope, please bring it.
